We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to join our Accounting Department. The ideal candidate will support the accounting department by performing various clerical and administrative tasks, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with established policies. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity of financial records and assisting in the preparation of financial statements.
Responsibilities
- This role will include, but not be limited to, data entry for Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R), assisting with the firm's legal billing and other accounting/administrative duties as needed
- Assist in the preparation of journal entries and maintain accurate records of transactions.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Support budgeting processes by providing necessary data and analysis.
- Conduct double entry bookkeeping to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) regulations in all accounting practices.
- Maintain organized files for all financial documents, including invoices, receipts, and reports.
- Assist with audits by providing requested documentation and explanations of financial processes.
- Check processing experience.
Skills
- Proficiency in financial concepts and principles, including budgeting and tax regulations.
- Experience with accounting software, particularly Quickbooks is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping practices.
- Ability to perform detailed journal entries accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing individual responsibilities.
- Computer proficiency and multitasking
- Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements is a plus.
