What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRN Wound Care Nurse/Infection Preventionist position at Heritage Pointe of Warren?
The Heritage Pointe of Warren is currently seeking a PRN Wound Care Specialist/Infection preventionist LPN/RN. Candidate must have an active Indiana Nursing license with a minimum of two years nursing experience in acute or LTC nursing. Must have active WCC accreditation and knowledge of computer systems and be able to communicate clearly verbally and in writing, as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality of medical records. Candidate must display a positive attitude and present with a prfessional image. Candidate will report to the Administrator and Director of Nursing.
Duties include:
- Weekly follow-up of pressure ulcers within facility with medical director/D.O.N signature
- Coordinate wound care services with outside sources as needed
- Update attending physician of wound condition weekly and more frequently as needed
- Ensure appropriate dressing supplies are available for staff
- Prepare and present weekly skin reports to Administrator, DON, Physician, Dietary Supervisor, MDS Coordinator and Therapy
- Prepare quarterly statistics of wounds for QA
- Ensures family, physician, DON and Administrator are notified of all new and worsening pressure areas and is documented in medical records with a D.
- Rounds building to ensure pressure reducing measures are being followed properly
- Follows state and federal guidelines regarding wounds and pressure ulcer documentation
- Attempts proper continuing education to maintain WCC accreditation
