What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at Heritage Tractor Inc?
Purpose:
Performs various complex accounting duties according to Dealership policy and accounting theory. Duties include coordinating, preparing, and analyzing general ledger information and reports that provide summary information for management use. Represents the Accounting Department as the contact for accounting issues. Attracts, retains, and effectively engages department personnel. Provides excellent customer service for employees as well as customers and vendors.
Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the Controller and CFO to complete various accounting, payroll, and 401K tasks and projects
- Manages various audits, including but not limited to: annual financial statement audit(s), multiple annual insurance audits, annual 401k audit(s), and any possible State sales tax audits
- Reviews internal controls and makes recommendations to leadership on process improvements
- Analyzes company operations to identify and implement opportunities for reduction of expenses
- Evaluates contracts from a cost-savings perspective
- Manages accounting activities to ensure that financial processes and information are accurate, timely, and contain adequate internal controls
- Performs financial analysis and miscellaneous requests for information
- Reviews and/or prepares various monthly account reconciliations
- Maintains chart of accounts and integrity of GL and sub ledgers
- Assists in recruiting, staffing, and employee development activities for the Accounting Department
- Other duties as assigned
Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge:
- 3 years experience in financial management or accounting management
- Understands the importance of internal controls
- Understands the financial statements impact of entries made by accounting personnel
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs, including advanced Excel skills and Power BI experience
- Proficient with accounting systems and in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Bachelors Degree in an Accounting/Finance/Business discipline or equivalent experience required
- CPA designation preferred
