Department : Nursing Professional PracticeWork Hours : M-F Daylight, occasional off shift and weekendFunction : The Simulation Lab Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the simulation lab at Heritage Valley Health System, Sewickley Campus. The Simulation Lab Coordinator overseas the preparation, maintenance, inventory, operation and repair of all simulation equipment / supplies and collaborates with faculty to design, plan, implement and schedule simulation activities. The Simulation Lab Coordinator is responsible for simulation-based nursing curriculum development, facilitating and instructing various programs, and acts as a liaison or serves as the Coordinator for the Community Training Center (CTC) affiliated with the American Heart Association.The Simulation Lab Coordinator ensures adherence to program policies, course objectives, program outcomes and current simulation best practice and safety measures. The Simulation Lab Coordinator position is a full-time exempt position. The typical work schedule will be Monday through Friday daylight hours, however must adapt to occasional long and irregular hours, including off shifts and weekends.Qualifications : Minimum of two years' experience in healthcare simulation as an educator.Previous involvement in developing or expanding a simulation program preferred.Mechanical / Technical skills to competently maintain and use equipment in the simulation center. Familiarity with physiological monitoring systems, common medical device systems and electronic medical record systemsAbility to meet challenges of adult learners with diverse backgrounds.Clinical knowledge and experience gained working in Acute Care settings with preference for Critical Care and / or Emergency Department settings.Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) to interact with and work effectively with other faculty, staff, students, and vendors in a positive, helpful and cooperative working relationship.Familiarity with PC and MAC platforms with experience in MS Office and the ability to learn additional software programs, including audiovisual and computerized simulation equipment.Knowledge of operation of standard audio-visual equipment : projectors, microphones, portable screens, media players, etc.Organizational and time management skills to keep materials in order, track various projects, maintain files, and follow through assignments to completion.Ability to create and manage complex training and resource allocation schedules.Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.Ability to quickly learn new technologyAbility to express technical information clearly and simply to non-technical persons.Educational Qualifications Required : Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Masters Business Administration (MBA) degree or related field from an accredited college or university is required.Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or related field from an accredited college or university along with five (5) years of experience as a Clinical or Simulation Educator will be considered in lieu of a graduate degree.Current BLS certification required.Combination of education, training and / or experience which can be demonstrated to result in possession of the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of this position.Preferred Qualifications : Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE), or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator-Advanced (CHSE-A).Commitment to obtain CHSE within three (3) years of hire.ACLS and PALS Provider CertificationCommitment to obtain ACLS Provider Certification within three (3) months of hire.Commitment to obtain PALS Provider Certification within three (3) months of hire if experienced with the pediatric population.BLS, ACLS and PALS Instructor Certification.Commitment to obtain BLS and ACLS Instructor Certification within one (1) year of hire.Commitment to obtain PALS Instructor Certification within one (1) year of hire if experienced with the pediatric population.
