Job Title : Facility Technician & Class A Diesel Mechanic
Job Summary :
We are looking for a skilled and adaptable individual to fill the dual role of Facility Technician and Class A Diesel Mechanic at two of our warehouse locations. (Houston, TX & Channelview, TX) This position combines the responsibility of maintaining the facility's operations and handling routine mechanical repairs for Class A trucks. The ideal candidate will ensure the efficient operation of both buildings while performing hands-on maintenance for minor mechanical issues on our fleet of Class A vehicles.
Key Responsibilities :
Facility Technician Duties :
- Building Maintenance : Perform routine maintenance across various systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general facility upkeep.
- General Repairs : Carry out tasks like painting, wall patching, light bulb replacements, cleaning common areas, trash removal, and maintaining the grounds.
- Work Order Management : Respond to submitted work orders from occupants, assess issues, and complete repairs in a timely manner.
- Contractor Coordination : Oversee and manage external contractors for specialized repairs or tasks.
- Documentation & Reporting : Maintain thorough records of all maintenance activities, including dates, repairs performed, and parts used.
- Emergency Response : Be available for after-hours calls to resolve urgent facility issues.
Skills & Qualifications for Facility Technician Role :
Technical Expertise : Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance practices.Problem-Solving Skills : Ability to identify root causes of issues and provide effective solutions.Tool Proficiency : Skilled in the safe use of hand tools and power equipment.Physical Stamina : Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, bending, climbing ladders, and working in varying weather conditions.Attention to Detail : Diligence in completing tasks accurately and safely.Communication Skills : Effective interaction with building occupants to address maintenance needs and provide updates.Class A Diesel Mechanic Duties :
Mechanical Diagnosis & Repair : Diagnose and perform minor repairs on Class A trucks, focusing on engine, brake, electrical, and suspension systems.Routine Maintenance : Conduct regular maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks.Safety & Compliance : Ensure all vehicles meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.Inventory Management : Maintain and organize inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts.Documentation : Accurately document all repairs and maintenance activities in a timely manner.Qualifications for Class A Diesel Mechanic Role :
Certification : Class A Diesel Mechanic certification with extensive experience in truck maintenance and repair.Problem-Solving : Proficient in diagnosing and resolving minor mechanical issues.Organization & Multitasking : Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Independent Work : Ability to troubleshoot and work efficiently under pressure.Additional Requirements :
Experience : Previous experience in vehicle maintenance is required.Education : High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair is a plus.Specialized Training : OEM training courses, ASE Certification, and 608 / 609 certifications are desirable.Tool Proficiency : Skilled in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power equipment.Work Environment : Willingness to work in non-climate-controlled conditions and handle physically demanding tasks.Computer Skills : Basic computer knowledge for record-keeping and documentation.Safety Compliance : Ability to adhere to DOT, OSHA, and company safety policies, including proper use of tools, PPE, and safety procedures.Preferred Qualifications :
