Hermeus is an aerospace and defense technology company founded to radically accelerate air travel by delivering hypersonic aircraft. The company aims to develop hypersonic aircraft quickly and cost-effectively by integrating hardware-rich, iterative development with modern computing and autonomy. This approach has been validated through design, build, and test of the company's first combined turbojet-ramjet engine and is now being scaled through its first flight vehicle program, Quarterhorse. Hermeus is also developing Darkhorse — an uncrewed hypersonic aircraft designed to deliver unique asymmetric capabilities to the warfighter.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Avionics Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the development of the next generation of hypersonic vehicles. As a Lead Avionics Engineer at Hermeus, you will play a pivotal role in leading the design, analysis, and testing of electrical systems for our hypersonic vehicles. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our electrical systems. Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across the organization, manage related risk and change across the program, drive new technology introduction, and provide mentoring for less senior engineers.
- Drive system trades, requirements capture, component selection, analysis, schematic capture, prototyping, bring-up, debugging, documentation, manufacturing, and test.
- Create development and qualification testing campaigns and exercise designs to their limits.
- Support hardware through production, integration, and flight.
- Work with experts from other teams and departments to drive changes that make the system more efficient, manufacturable, and reliable. Challenge assumptions and build strong professional relationships.
