Responsible for performing skilled technical work involving the maintenance, repair, installation, inspection and operation of traffic signal systems, street lights and associated electrical/electronic controls.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including working in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise to balance the workload.Performs activities necessary to maintain, upgrade and install traffic signal installations in conformance with guidelines set forth by Federal, State and County standards, to include but not limited to power supplies, time switches, and directional signals. Investigates complaints pertaining to signal malfunctions. Safely operates bucket truck.Performs layout and installation of various types of vehicle detectors such as prezo electric, inductive loop radar and sonar type. Maintains all types of signal equipment, analyzing, testing, and repairing in the field and the shop and maintains all signal beacons. Occasionally performs street light maintenance as required and assists with road closure devices and barricades as required. May perform duties at any time of the day or night as required for emergency response.Emergency Response County employees are required to report for work during a state of emergency and are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations which may include duties other than those specified in this job description.
