This position is responsible for creating, growing, promoting, and enhancing the Hernando County Government’s digital presence through multiple forms of media. This position also ensures the county's presence for visitors or public interaction is a positive experience and as accurate as possible. Maintains a high degree of initiative, flexible work style involving independence as well as teamwork, strong organization and follow-up, multi-tasking, and above all interaction with a diverse group of staff, citizens, and community partners.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain ongoing external relationships with local stakeholders, media, journalists, private businesses, and other industry-related professional associations.
- Create and present ideas and findings clearly and concisely in written, oral, and graphic form.
- Operate a computer and industry-related software such as Adobe Premiere and Constant Contact.
- Exercise independent judgment guided by general direction to research and communicate information.
- Develop brochures and other marketing materials; develop media plans.
- Organize and update the film and photo library.
- Respond to film location requests and set up special events such as ribbon cuttings and ceremonies for the County.
- Assist in the coordination of press conferences, public hearings, and special community meetings.
- Work with departments to enhance their outreach digitally on the website and social media.
- Create effective media campaigns for each department.
- Manage email marketing, positive promotions, social media, and any other multimedia content.
Emergency Response
County employees are required to report for work during a state of emergency and are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations which may include duties other than those specified in this job description.
Minimum Qualifications
A combination of education, training, and experience may be substituted at the County's discretion.
