QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY:
1. MLT Licensure through the American Society for Clinical Pathology
2.Current CPR
3. Minimum 2 years experience in phlebotomy
4. Hospital Pre-employment Background Check renewed within the year
5. Professional Liability Insurance MANDATORY
SKILLS & ABILITY:
1. High level of proficiency with Microsoft office applications, hospital software applications.
2. Ability to think critically and multitask in a high-pressure situation.
3. Ability to organize and manage an office setting and work with all.
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member; establish and maintain
cooperative and collaborative working relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team, and exercise judgment by participating in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care according to standards.
5. Behavior consistent with the hospital’s Standards of Performance.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs according to the Standards of Professional Practice and in compliance with the policies, procedures and standards of the facility
2. Accepts clinical responsibility and professional accountability for the care delivered to assigned patients.
3. Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team, fulfilling responsibilities as a member of the nursing discipline.
4. Complies with The Ethical Framework for Technicians
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Collect blood, urine, and other specimens from patients
2. Prepare samples for analysis, ensuring proper labeling and handling to prevent contamination
3. Perform a variety of tests, including hematology, microbiology, biochemistry, and immunology
4. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results
5. Follow standard operating procedures and adhere to safety protocols to maintain laboratory standards.
6. Provide information and reassurance to patients during specimen collection when appropriate
7. Maintain accurate records of laboratory tests and results.
8. Carry out all work assignments safely and be knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies and procedures in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations, as well as other legislation as applicable.
