Plant Care Technician

Heroman Services Plant Company is looking to add a knowledgeable plant enthusiast to our Exterior Plant Team.

Key responsibilities will include caring for foliage and ornamental planting, weeding, pruning, watering, pest and disease prevention and control and overall general maintenance. We are specialized Urban Gardeners and do not do grass mowing, etc.

You need to have a minimum of 5 years previous professional experience in working with blooming plants, container gardening, greenhouse, and/or plant nursery experience. An understanding of the maintenance and presentation of a variety of annual, perennial, evergreen, and other landscape materials together with an excellent general knowledge of plants is essential.

You must be well organized with a keen eye for detail and be able to demonstrate effective communication and team working skills.

The job holder will be part of a team who will maintain and develop our rooftop gardens, greenroofs, container gardens, and associated areas to the highest horticultural standards.

Skills required:

• A minimum of 5 years professional horticulture experience with a garden center, plant nursery, greenhouse, interiorscaper or related industries. Two years or more of consecutive work for at least one company.
• A knowledge of plantcare techniques
• Proven practical experience in horticulture
• Excellent attention to detail
• Hold a valid driving license and clean driving record
• Knowledge of Irrigation maintenance desired, but not required.
• This is a physically demanding position where you will be walking, bending, stooping, reaching, using hand tools, and getting dirty, etc. on a daily basis
• Physically fit and able to lift and comfortably carry up to 40lbs at given times.
• Comfortable working outdoors throughout the year
