What are the responsibilities and job description for the 11p-7a Med Tech/Caregiver position at Heron House at Largo?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Administers medication and treatments as assigned within the scope of practice.
Passes morning, afternoon and evening bedtime and overnight medications scheduled and as needed, staying with each resident until the medication is consumed, then charts appropriately.
Maintains upkeep and cleanliness of medication carts and medication room, wipes down top of medication cart daily.
Keeps the medication carts appropriately stocked.
Responsible for recording and/ or restocking of medications from pharmacy no later than 7 days before medication runs out. Responsible for locking and storing narcotics (according to protocol) until turned over to pharmacy.
Maintains accurate, complete and confidential resident medication and care records, according to established procedure and charts any unusual incident or information in resident Progress Notes and in staff Communication Log.
Documents any and all changes in Communication Log along with giving a brief report to on-coming Medication Aide. Immediately report signs of resident changes to supervisor or Executive Director Fills out Incident Report for resident and/ or personnel when an incident occurs on shift.
Takes and records vital signs as ordered and otherwise when necessary, i.e., monthly or daily as instructed by supervisor. Must be CNA Certified to do so.
Notifies a supervisor at once if noting any adverse reaction of medication on resident or awareness of medication error.
Observes and communicates to the Wellness Coordinator, Nurse/Executive Director any changes in resident physical or mental status.
Assists with ADLs and assignment logs for residents whether they are on the assignment sheet or not and reporting any significant changes in residents or declines.
Communicates, as needed, with physicians, families and other appropriate parties concerning resident status, changes in status, need for appointment, etc.
Assist residents with personal hygiene and grooming twice a week, daily, or as needed. This includes: bathing, toileting, hair care, mouth care, skin care shaving, and nail care.
Assist with ambulation on all shifts. Escort residents to and from the dining room, activity room, patio, transportation center, etc.
Assist residents with meals and snacks
Perform light housekeeping duties daily, including: making resident’s beds in the morning, turning down beds in the evening, hang up clothes, and taking out trash for all residents each shift
Maintain clean and hazard free working areas, including nursing stations
Supervise, document and distribute medications to residents
Answer phones courteously in a timely manner and take messages and give to appropriate person when front desk is not present.
Know the facilities disaster and fire safety policies and procedures, including the location and correct use of the fire alarm system
Assist with emergencies for all residents in the building
