Job Summary
The Academic Interventionist is responsible for advancing Herron Preparatory Academy’s mission and embodying our core values by ensuring all scholars access quality classical education that leads to systematic academic achievement and strong character development. The person in this role does this by planning and providing targeted, direct instruction to selected students on a daily to weekly basis that results in scholars’ rapid progress toward, and ultimate attainment of, mastery of grade-level academic standards.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Collaborates with an Academic Coach to create intervention schedules
- Supports Instructional Assistants on the intervention team
- Works with individual students or small groups for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing targeted learning concepts in math or ELA
- Assists students with achieving their academic goals and grade-level standards
- Monitors students' goals and tracks students' progress throughthe use of data systems and progress monitoring tools
- May be asked to attend regular scheduled MTSS meetings and provide updates with students' progress, manage students’ goals, and provide recommendations for suggested research-based interventions
- Implements instructional programs to assist the teacher in improving students’ academic success through a de?ned course of study
- Internalizes lesson plans from intervention curricula for small groups that align to speci?c group goals and individual learning outcomes
- Implements behavior and procedural expectations for small groups that aligns to school-wide expectations, core values, mission, and vision
- Assists with administering statewide and school diagnostic testing
- Values and utilizes feedback from an assigned coach and/or supervisor to inform instruction
- Helps supervise students during morning, lunch, requested transitions, and dismissals
- Collaborates with grade-level teachers and other teams to provide modifications for students’ work and address students’ individual learning needs
- Participates in staff development training and/or coaching to improve job performance
- Works to establish professional and collaborative relationships with teachers
- As requested, assists with classroom coverage
- As requested, attends evening events that include but may not be limited to Parent Orientation, Meet the Teacher Night, Parent/Teacher Conferences, and Open Houses
- As requested, assists with the recruiting and hiring of new teachers
- Participates in special events, as assigned
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements:Minimum Required Quali?cations
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid IN Teacher License
- 2 years of experience
- Possess strong understanding of child development, pedagogy, and content
- Demonstrated track record of student performance in the classroom
Preferred Quali?cations
- 5 years of experience
- Training or experience in classical education
- Experience with teaching using the school curriculum aligned to the role
- EL certi?cation or endorsement
