What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher of Record - Long Term Substitute position at Herron Classical Schools?
FLSA Status : Exempt
Herron Riverside High School is hiring for a Special Education Teacher of Record for a Long Term Leave from January 2025-May 2025.
The assignment shall include the following :
- Assist with the review of special education needs of incoming students
- Write Individualized Education Plans and maintain records as teacher of record as assigned by the Special Education Coordinator.
- Work with special education students and faculty to provide the appropriate climate for each student to receive his / her accommodations.
- Work directly with general education teachers on issues that may arise in classroom settings.
- Follow all IDOE and school guidelines concerning the development and implementation of IEPs.
- Assist with audits to ensure faculty is adhering to student IEPs and providing the outlined accommodations.
- Participate in case conferences and annual reviews and assists with the compilation of documentation for student records.
- Assist in keeping student files, student services and conferences compliant with the Indiana Laws.
- Communicate with parents / guardians of Indianapolis Classical Schools' special education students.
- Attendance at scheduled faculty meetings, professional development meetings and other sessions as determined by the Executive Leadership team.
- Attendance at evening events that include but may not be limited to Parent Orientation, Meet the Teacher Night, Parent / Teacher Conferences and Open Houses. The dates of these events are listed on the Master Calendar.
- Mandatory attendance at the annual Symposium (a day long professional development determined by the administration). The date of this event is listed on the Master Calendar.
- The expectation to coordinate or assist with at least one co-curricular (club or athletics) activity for the duration of the club or athletic team during the 2023 academic year.
- An expectation of professional conduct and professional growth throughout the year.
- Collaboratively work with the administration and other teachers to create policy, guidelines, and working procedures for Indianapolis Classical Schools.
- Perform other duties as determined necessary by the administration.

Negotiable depending on experience.
