Job Summary:
The Health Sciences Academy Coordinator will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Health Sciences Academy at Hertford County Public Schools. This role is pivotal in preparing students for promising careers in health sciences through innovative educational pathways and robust partnerships with post-secondary institutions and healthcare industry leaders.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategic Planning:
- Develop and articulate a clear vision for the Health Sciences Academy that aligns with district goals and labor market demands.
- Lead the design and implementation of curriculum and programs that integrate real-world healthcare applications.
- Maintain and expand partnerships with local healthcare facilities, universities, and community organizations to enhance educational and career opportunities for students.
Program Management and Implementation:
- Recruit and retain students, promoting sustained interest and engagement in health sciences.
- Coordinate with post-secondary institutions to establish articulation agreements that offer dual credit, certifications, and advanced placement.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of academy resources, including labs, equipment, and learning materials.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as the primary liaison between the academy and external stakeholders, including healthcare organizations, higher education institutions, and community leaders.
- Organize and participate in events such as health fairs, career expos, and community outreach programs to promote the academy.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with state and federal educational standards and regulations pertinent to health sciences education.
- Regularly evaluate program effectiveness using data-driven metrics, adjusting strategies to enhance student outcomes
- and program quality.
Professional Development and Support:
- Facilitate ongoing professional development opportunities for academy staff to ensure current knowledge and skills in health sciences education.
- Encourage a collaborative culture among staff to share best practices and innovations in health sciences teaching.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Educational Administration, Supervision, or a Health Profession; or a Bachelor’s Degree with extensive experience in health-related educational programs.
- Preferred knowledge of the healthcare industry and Career and Technical Education pathways.
- Minimum of three years in educational leadership or program coordination, preferably within health sciences or a related area.

Physical Requirements
