JOB TITLE: CHILD NUTRITION ASSISTANT I
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
To prepare and serve the school population attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness under direct supervision.
REPORTS TO: Child Nutrition Manager and the school Principal
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Reads recipes and directions for quantity and follows instructions.
- Uses standardized recipes and makes substitutions with the approval of the manager.
- Calculates amount of ingredients for number of portions to be served.
- Prepares and serves meals.
- Gathers items as directed by recipe for use.
- Stores food and equipment prepared and used by self and others.
- Measures, mixes, and stirs ingredients.
- Slices and chops food as needed.
- Computes time to be used in preparing and finishing products on time.
- Proportions and serves food in prescribed serving size.
- Arranges foods and supplies to retain sanitation and quality.
- Sanitizes service wear.
- Cleans equipment, work area, and dining room after use.
- Notifies manager of equipment repairs needed.
- Records material and supplies needed.
- Inspects kitchen activities to make sure safety and sanitation procedures are followed.
- May be on call for special school events.
- Receives training and in-service pertinent to the job function.
- Performs other functions as assigned by supervisor(s).
