Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a self-driven Railroad Coordinator in Alexandria, VA to join our team.
Duties And Responsibilities
- This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
- Maintain vital timely communication between Herzog, Herzog’s Subcontractors, and all adjacent railroads within the project limits, to minimize impacts, maintain the project schedule, and reach project milestones.
- Liasson with assigned RWIC on the project in order to facilitate a safe and smooth working operations that work for the contractor and owner’s of Right-Of-Way on a daily basis.
- Schedule track outages and work windows with assigned rail entities and dispatchers
- Work with fields supervisors establish hour by hour schedule for all work window work or off revenue hour work.
- Determine work activity protection (on-track safety) requirements.
- Ability to create three month schedules, three week schedules, and a daily game plan and distribute to all party participants.
- Ability to meet in person on jobsite to investigate and conclude any issues that arise from Crews and flaggers.
- Ability to elevate issues that can not be resolved in a relatively short time.
- Other construction related coordination as assigned.
- Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ten years of progressively responsible experience in railroad track maintenance and/or construction in an operating railroad environment on a Class I Railroad or an equivalent Commuter Transit Railroad system.
- Must be able to demonstrate ability to communicate in written and verbal English language with prior record keeping experience.
- Must be familiar with and proficient using the Microsoft Suite of Office programs; specifically, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Must possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
- Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
- Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

- Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
