Track Inspector

Overview

Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking an experienced Track Inspector in Havre de Grace, MD to join our team.

Duties And Responsibilities

• This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
• The candidate is responsible for inspecting track (Class 1 -6) infrastructure in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
• The candidate is responsible to inspect construction of new track, rehabilitated track, reconstructed track and / or affected (re-aligned, resurfaced or repaired) track upon completion for quality and safety before track is deemed. Dedicated full time to the project, with no outside working responsibilities other than Herzog related duties. Also, responsible for the maintenance quality control documentation including reports, and secure documentation system.
• The candidate will be responsible for conducting daily, weekly and monthly inspections and surveillances of construction and maintenance activities in accordance with FRA and Amtrak specifications. The candidate must demonstrate effective communication skills.
• The candidate is also expected to be willing to work nights and holidays as needed under special circumstances.
• Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
• Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5 years of relevant experience in track maintenance and inspection.
• Previously GCOR, FRA 213-214 Qualified on class 1 railroad. Familiarity and knowledge of codes and standards applicable to specific construction and maintenance activity per GCOR, MOWOR, CWR, and FRA 213 and 214.
• Ability to write detailed reports and demonstrated computer skills necessary to access, research, and document results in the electronic medium are expected.
• Valid driver’s license and favorable driving record.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bilingual is a plus.
• Extensive skills at minor adjustments/repairs of special trackwork.
• Must possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  
  

Pre-Employment Requirements

• Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
• Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
• Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
  
  

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.

• Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
• Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
• Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs.
• Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
• Regularly kneel, bend, and squat.
• Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
• Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
• Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
