Description

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Procurement Manager to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will focus on driving cost reductions, cultivating strong vendor relationships, and implementing strategic purchasing initiatives. This role is pivotal in ensuring that procurement processes align with company objectives to optimize efficiency and enhance the bottom line.

The Procurement Manager will prioritize negotiating favorable terms, streamlining supply chain processes, and fostering collaboration to support our manufacturing and operational goals. Will also lead a small team comprising a Senior Buyer, a Warehouse Material Handler, and a Shipping / Receiving professional, totaling three direct reports.

Requirements

Vendor Relationship Development :

Build and nurture strategic relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Negotiate contracts to secure optimal pricing, delivery terms, and service levels.
Conduct regular performance reviews with suppliers and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Identify and onboard alternative vendors to mitigate risk and foster competition.

Strategic Procurement :

Develop and execute procurement strategies that drive cost savings while maintaining product quality and delivery schedules.

Analyze market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.

Oversee inventory control practices to minimize waste and optimize working capital.

Implement data-driven approaches to monitor procurement performance and ensure compliance with company policies.

Leadership and Collaboration :

Lead and mentor the purchasing team to achieve departmental goals and uphold workplace standards.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production and operations, to ensure seamless alignment of procurement efforts with business objectives.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Risk Management :

Identify and mitigate risks in the procurement process, including supply chain disruptions and compliance issues.

Ensure all procurement activities adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement within a manufacturing environment, with a proven track record of strategic purchasing.

Exceptional negotiation and vendor management skills.

Expertise in utilizing MRP and ERP systems to optimize procurement operations.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on driving cost efficiencies.

Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with a knack for fostering collaboration across teams.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high levels of accuracy.
