What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Shelter Manager position at Hesed House of Hope?
The assistant director is responsible for being the ambassador for Hesed House of Hope. The assistant director is often one of the first meaningful staff interaction a shelter guest and volunteer will have here at Hesed House. This position must be able to quickly build trust and rapport with guest so they feel comfortable disclosing personal information. The assistant director will meet with guests and may collect information both in writing and recorded into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). This position will also ensure that a guest’s basic needs are met, and he/she is equipped with the information they need for a successful stay at Hesed House of Hope.
The assistant director will be responsible for:
- Assist in the day-to-day operations of the shelter.
- Responsible for 20 hours weekly for post resident follow-up
- Responsible for collecting accurate resident information.
- Make appropriate referrals for residents both internally and externally.
- Model professional behavior to reflect the expectations of our mission.
- Ability to communicate professionally with public donors, Church groups and individual volunteers over the phone and in person.
- Orientate new residents explaining guidelines and policies.
- Ensure safety and security of all residents.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to supervise all residents simultaneously with dignity and respect.
- Facilitate intake process, perform drug screens and breathalyzer.
- Collect daily resident data, daily resident inspections.

Pay: $31,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
