JOB GOAL: To provide office and clerical support to assist with the efficient operation of Hesston Elementary School
RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Experience as a secretary with customer service skills
3. Demonstrated typing and filing skills
4. Experience in using various computers and computer programs, office machines, and telecommunications equipment
5. Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
1. Prolonged sitting and standing
2. Repetitive motions
3. Prolonged periods of time viewing a computer screen
4. Physical exertion to manually move, pull, or push heavy objects or materials
5. Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds unassisted
6. Stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, and turning
7. Frequent work in noisy, crowded, stressful environments with numerous interruptions

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Support the district’s vision, mission, and values
2. Implement all policies and statutes as determined by various governmental agencies, the Kansas State Department of Education, and the local board of education
3. Operate all equipment appropriately as required.
4. Cross-train to ensure efficient operation of the middle school office
5. Screen visitors and telephone calls, directing them to the appropriate person/department
6. Screen and route incoming mail
7. Compose, type, and copy correspondence, reports, bulletins, records, and other materials
8. Obtain, gather, and organize pertinent data as needed
9. Maintain an orderly filing system
10. Maintain ProStar and district database information
11. Assist with enrollment
12. Maintain accurate attendance records on ProStar and report attendance problem to the Principal
13. Contact parents to confirm absences
14. Maintain and submit a daily log of school hours completed
15. Maintain accurate student cumulative folders
16. Assist with QPA data
17. Attend HES Advisory Council meetings; record and distribute minutes
18. Scan meal cards, collect and deposit money in meal accounts, and provide meal reports to food supervisor
19. Assist with preparing the September 20 building report
20. Distribute office passes and notes as directed
21. Assist in training new employees
22. Administer first aid to ill/injured students in the absence of the school nurse according to school policy
23. Keep current on new information, innovative ideas and techniques
24. Keep student and personnel information records confidential
25. Respond to information requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner
26. Communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community
27. React to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, meeting deadlines as assigned
28. Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the principal
