Job Description
▪ Weekly inventorying, ordering, and menu curation;
▪ Providing impeccable client service and a memorable guest experience;
▪ Serving beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and food to patrons when needed;
▪ Managing the bar’s payment processor;
▪ Troubleshooting technical bar issues;
▪ Securing museum spaces during events;
▪ Assisting in bar set-up and break-down;
▪ Improving and maintaining bar systems to track inventory and sales;
▪ Improving bar equipment and operations to maximize profit and efficiency;
▪ Additional bartending and event management duties as assigned.
This is a part-time, paid position with a set schedule (see below). Salary is $22 per hour

February - March & November:
Required Experience/Skills
- Under the supervision of the Director of the Urban Manufacturing Incubator, the Bar Manager will manage the bar staff, serve as the on-site lead during the majority of bar events, and help to develop and implement a plan to make the bar more efficient and professional.
- The Bar Manager will also assist the bar staff by serving beverages and snacks, and provide support during private event rentals and public programs.
- The Bar Manager will follow all health and safety laws outlined by the District of Columbia, and make sure all staff and patrons follow their example.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate the highest level of professional experience as a manager and bartender, exceptional hospitality services, impeccable attention to detail and logistics, and a strong commitment to the mission of the Heurich House Museum.

- Saturdays 3-9pm
- Wednesdays 3-9pm
- Thursdays 3-9pm
- Fridays 3-9pm
- Saturdays 11am - 9pm (with one hour lunch break)
Required Experience/Skills
- At least 4 years of professional hospitality experience, experience managing a bar is a plus
- Either already has completed or has the ability to complete ABRA and TIPS trainings
- Ability to perform tasks requiring physical activity, such as carrying up to 60 lbs., walking, standing for up to 8 hours, stooping, sitting, reaching, lifting, etc.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Top-notch skills in event execution and attention to detail
- Team player and self-starter with a positive attitude
- Ability to undertake creative problem solving
- Demonstrates a respect and awareness of the preservation of historic spaces
- Willingness to adhere to professional museum standards and practices, particularly regarding historical artifacts
