Job Overview
Northwest Applied Manufacturing is seeking a Production Supervisor for Electrical and Sheet Metal Fabricationin a manufacturing environment. Successful candidates will possess a bias for action and exhibit a continuous improvement “big picture” mindset. This individual must be well organized and promote activities that encourage team members to elevate productivity and drive quality from a customer-centric perspective. This position requires the ability to develop characteristics, skills, and attributes for high standards of business proficiency and team management. The Production Supervisor reports to the General Manager.
Responsibilities
· Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and work instructions and a preference for effective application of lean manufacturing techniques for harness assembly and panel construction.
· General knowledge of aluminum and metal fabrication including CNC plasma, router, brake, and basic welding knowledge preferred.
· Conduct interviews, make recommendations for hire, perform semi-annual performance reviews, provide direct feedback to team members and management, and assist in strategic people planning activities.
· Champion continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate safety risks, maintain quality objectives, ensure on-time delivery, and hit profitability targets.
· Communicate team activities daily/weekly through written and visual management tools.
· Proficiency in using, and able to train new employees in, the safe use of all hand tools, equipment, and process steps.
· Mentor new employees and provide constructive feedback for critical to-quality items.
· Participate in new product introduction activities, solicit feedback from team members, collaborate with material purchasing, provide engineering insight, troubleshoot issues, and encourage productive dialog between production and engineering and support staff.
· Enhance quality assurance programs, including equipment calibration, in-line quality checks, and layered processed audits.
· Oversee regular inventory checks and participate in quarterly inventory management exercises.
· Effectively communicate with co-workers and management and address problems with clear and concise data-supported organization.
· Lead in root cause investigations and corrective actions based on customer feedback.
· Facilitate development opportunities for direct teams, provide promotion recommendations, identify personal development actions for self-development, and participate in disciplinary plans as needed.
· Responsible for flow improvements that maintain alignment of MRP planning actions and physical part flow.
· Manage work orders within the MRP system to ensure on-time delivery of orders and provide backup for material planning.
Qualifications
- · 7 years of production/manufacturing experience with a minimum of 3 years of progressive growth team management, lean manufacturing, MRP, continuous improvement, visual management, and leadership.
- · Strong leadership skills, organization, experience with team development activities, and ability to communicate with a diverse group of individuals including customers, senior managers, and team members.
- · Adherence to manufacturing and engineering documents with a bias for standardization and documentation.
- · Proficient with MS Office Suite and ability to navigate MRP systems, as well as general computer proficiency.
- · Demonstrated experience in a high-growth environment, managing complexity, and responding to dynamic business needs.
- This position is a full-time, salaried position within Hewes Marine Company
- Work schedule Monday – Friday
- Some overtime and weekend work may be required.
- Wage Range $60,000.00 to $90,000.00
