Hewes Marine Company, Inc. is seeking a welder with proven skills in metal fabrication that include Aluminum, MIG & TIG welding. This position is responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding, and weld finishing operations to manufacturing products from engineered drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction.
Examples of Responsibilities:
- Interpretation of mechanical drawings and sketches, including weld symbols
- Proficient in assigned welding techniques.
- Working knowledge of fixturing
- Working knowledge of setup parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
- Conventional and precision measuring instruments
- Welding equipment maintenance
- Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools
- Safety and Housekeeping
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Education/Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of an internal welding test
- Previous experience in aluminum welding preferred.
- With safety in mind, ability to wear required PPE such as welding hoods, respirators, ear and eye protection, and steel-toed boots.
Physical Requirements:
- Constantly on feet, alternating walking and standing with seldom sitting
- Frequent bend/stoop/squat/kneel, and occasional reach above shoulders
- Occasional push/pull to move parts/equipment to proper location, moving boats to next assembly area worker may exert up to 100 lbs. force
- Lifting and carrying occasionally up to 35 lbs. from floor to waist – max distance generally less than 100 ft.
- Constant manual dexterity, occasional fine finger manipulation, gripping vice grips worker may exert up to 50 lbs. force
- Occasionally climb ladders to get in and out of boats
- Kneeling required occasionally to place parts and clean boat
- Crawling required occasionally to clean interior of boat
- PPE: PAPR weld hood and turbo, leather gloves, weld coat, safety glasses, crush-proof footwear, hearing protection
Seldom: 1-10% of the shift Occasional: 11-33% of the shift Frequent: 34-66% of the shift Constant: 67% of the shift
Compensation:
- This position is a full-time, hourly position within Hewes Marine Company
- Work schedule Monday – Friday
- Some overtime and weekend work are required.
- Wage Range: $23.50 to $28.50 per hour, DOE
- Excellent Benefits package including medical, dental, vision, accrued paid leave, and 401K.
