Responsibilities
- Perform wet filament winding of composite cylinders and hand layup utilizing automated and manual techniques.
- Operate or support large, specialized equipment such as filament winding machines, fiber tensioners, large ovens, and spray finish equipment.
- Composite finishing including abrading, labelling and topcoat applications.
- Operate or support crane lifts and forklifts.
- Adheres to equipment requirements and the method and sequences of operation to be followed in the fabrication of parts using a variety of materials and consumables.
- Understands, follows, and completes work instructions, and contributes to safety, quality, process, and work instruction continuous improvement
- Cleans, reseals, and/or prepares tools and mandrels using the appropriate release systems
- Utilize manual, electric & pneumatic tools to fabricate and/or maintain composite pressure vessels, mandrels, handling fixtures, and tooling
- Check completed products for conformance to specifications and defects using precise calibrate measuring equipment

- High School diploma or GED
- Ability to work respectfully and cooperatively with diverse teams in a dynamic environment displaying a strong work ethic with close attention to detail
- Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures
- Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Perform repetitive work including lifting of heavy items, >50lbs
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
- Willingness to work overtime daily and on weekends as necessary to meet critical deadlines
- General mechanical aptitude and critical thinking
- Must be able to pass pre-employment skills assessment
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- A Strong desire to understand, and continuously improve production processes
- Understanding of equipment maintenance and diagnostic principles and failure root cause and corrective action (RCCA)
- 6S and Lean Experience
- Proven success as a “hands-on” technician
- Industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in a related field
- Experience in handling/moving large aerospace components
- Experience working with high pressure systems
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another relevant field
- Knowledge of Filament winding machines, oven curing, tooling installation, nondestructive evaluation, bonding, and production control systems
