Job Summary:
- Maintains a clean and comfortable environment for patients and visitors, prepares endoscopy suite according to specific endoscopic procedure requirements.
- Removes or arranges for removal of hazards from environment immediately to prevent potential safety hazards from occurring.
- Prioritizes and re-prioritizes work based on the changing needs of the patients.
- Assists patient, physician and nurse during endoscopy, bronchoscopy, cystoscopy, EGD, colonoscopy, Bravo, ERCP.
- Sets up, prepares and maintains field, equipment and scopes for a variety of endoscopy procedures.
- Cleans processes, disinfects, calibrates and maintains all endoscopes and related equipment.
- Assists physicians with treatments and procedures as requested, including with biopsies and specimen collection.
- Assists in the admission and discharge of patients.
- Maintains and/or repairs (or initiate appropriate repair process) all endoscopic equipment including dictation system.
- Assists in the collection of routine specimens, follows policy and procedure for specimen collection.
- Assists with the transfer of patients to and from other departments utilizing appropriate technique (i.e. body mechanics, transfer mattress).
- Maintains correct par level of supplies and orders as needed.
- Observes reports and records non-invasive vital signs and intake and output as directed by the registered nurse and in accordance with Patient Care Service’s Standards.
- Performs a variety of complex patient treatments and procedures according to standard policies and procedures.
- Physically prepares patients for and assists care providers with examinations and therapeutic procedures.
- Assists with pre and post operative patient admission to the Surgical Day Care Unit.
- Performs pre-operative checklist verification.

Exerts 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequently kneels (bending the legs at knee to come to rest on knee or knees), reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction), and feels (perceiving attributes of items as size, shape, temperature, or texture by means of fingertips). Occasionally crouches (bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine), and stoops (bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist).

Minimum Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Endoscopy experience or endoscope processing experience preferred.
Minimum Licenses and Certifications
- AHA CPR certification required or need to obtain within 60 days of hire.
- On call per departmental needs.
