Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the collection of data (criteria/indicators) to be compiled for the OPPEs (Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations) for Heywood Hospital and Athol Hospital for OPPE cycle. This includes scheduling and attending meetings with Chiefs of Service and CMO for every evaluation cycle to review quality indicators for inclusion in the OPPEs. Produces quality data reports from Meditech and compile all information for each department. Attempts to obtain as much quality information as possible from all other sources. Once data is compiled, it is incorporated into the evaluations and distributed to Chiefs of Service for completion. Continually track receipt of evaluations from Chiefs. Upon receipt, distribution to individual providers and track receipt back to the provider’s credentialing file.
- Preparation, distribution and tracking of FPPE (Focused Professional Practice Evaluations) to Chiefs of Service for provisional appointment of new providers for both Heywood Hospital and Athol Hospital. Produces quality data reports from Meditech and compile all information for each provider. Once data is compiled it is distributed with evaluations to Chiefs of Service for completion. Continually track receipt of evaluations from Chiefs. Upon receipt, distribution to individual providers and track receipt. Once received and fully complete the FPPEs must go the respective MEC meeting for each facility for approval. Once approved, they are filed in the provider credentialing files.
- Work with the Medical Staff Coordinators and CMO and others on the review and revision of Medical Staff policies for both Heywood Hospital and Athol Hospital. Completes the revisions to all policies and, when necessary, includes the policies on the MEC for approval prior to uploading policies to the Medical Staff intranet policy site and archiving policies.
- Attends and assists with all monthly Peer Review Committee Meetings. This includes creating the agenda, taking minutes, initiating peer review letters for the Chair’s signature, sending peer review letters, and tracking the return of responses to the peer review committee, and facilitating case reviews.
- Tracks Departmental and Peer Review activities to support the volume and disposition of cases reviewed. Prepares charts and statistics regarding peer review activities as requested.
- Serves as back-up in assisting with the patient satisfaction hotline calls. Answers calls, speaks with complainants regarding concerns, refers issues to the appropriate departmental leader for resolution if needed, and follows up with complainants if indicated.
- Prepares data requests for departmental quality reporting.
Takes, records and prepares minutes for various committees and groups as requested.
Assists with the collection of required CMS and MassHealth quality measures as requested.
- Remaining flexible, prioritizes assignments and tasks based on the needs of the departments.
- Assists the Director in preparation of treasurer report information
- All other duties as assigned by the CMO.
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Frequently reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction), and handles (seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or working with hands).

Minimum Work Experience
- Sufficient previous experience in community or hospital volunteer experience with supervisory responsibilities.
