Overview:
Join our partner firm at Kuo & Associates (KUO) as a Lead Survey Party Chief, where you'll play a key role in conducting a variety of survey fieldwork, including establishing horizontal/vertical control, topographic surveying, property boundary surveys, and construction staking.
In this role, you will work both independently as a solo crew chief and as part of a team to ensure accurate and precise survey operations. Additionally, you may assist with CAD work, such as basic survey drafting or calculations, and support project managers with ancillary duties related to field operations.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Operate survey equipment efficiently, including total stations, levels, GPS devices, 3D scanners, and data collectors, ensuring accurate data collection and review.
- Work independently as a one-person crew, following project manager directives, while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
- Conduct a variety of surveying tasks, including ALTA/boundary, control, topography, and construction surveys.
- Travel occasionally for work, including overnight stays as needed.
- Engage with clients to understand project needs and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Adapt to changing situations and work environments with flexibility and problem-solving skills.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains, demonstrating physical dexterity and endurance.
- Maintain accurate, legible, and organized records in compliance with operational guidelines.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, prioritizing workplace and field safety.
- Interpret deeds and construction plans to support surveying and project execution.
- Demonstrate initiative and self-motivation, proactively addressing challenges within authority.
- Maintain a clean driving record and adhere to safety-driven practices.
- Proactively identify, address, and resolve issues within their scope of authority to prevent potential challenges.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in surveying, with at least 2 years in a crew chief role (preferred).
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in operating GPS and robotic total stations; experience with LiDAR and Trimble is a plus.
- Independent & Team-Oriented: Capable of performing solo surveying work as well as collaborating effectively within a crew.
- Communication & Attention to Detail: Strong verbal and written communication skills; highly detail-oriented, proactive, and able to multitask in a deadline-driven environment.
- Document Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret work orders, safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
- Licensing & Certifications: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required; LSIT certification preferred but not required.
