Join our partner firm at Kuo & Associates (KUO) as a Survey Field Instrument Man, where you will play a vital role in supporting land surveying projects by operating field equipment, collecting precise data, and assisting the survey crew in various tasks.
In this role, you will work outdoors in diverse terrain and weather conditions, setting up and using total stations, GPS, levels, and prism poles to mark and record accurate measurements. You will collaborate closely with surveyors and team members to ensure data accuracy and project efficiency while adhering to safety protocols.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Equipment Setup & Transport: Load, transport, and set up survey equipment such as levels, rods, and transits, ensuring all tools are in proper working condition.
- Marking & Measuring: Accurately mark and record locations and elevations using measuring tapes, rods, and other surveying tools.
- Survey Assistance: Support the survey party chief by holding the prism pole steady, clearing brush, digging holes, and assisting with various field tasks.
- Data Collection: Gather terrain data, including measurements of distances, angles, and elevations, for mapping and analysis.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures on the job site and maintain clear communication with the survey team.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks assigned by the survey party chief or project manager to support field operations.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED required; 1-3 years of surveying experience preferred.
- Surveying Equipment: Proficient in operating total stations, GPS, levels, and prism poles.
- Fieldwork Ability: Comfortable working outdoors in various weather and terrain conditions.
- Data Collection & Interpretation: Ability to read maps, blueprints, and survey plans and accurately record measurements.
- Physical Endurance: Capable of lifting, carrying, and setting up equipment, as well as performing manual labor when needed.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to follow instructions carefully and ensure accuracy in measurements.
- Teamwork & Communication: Works well with survey crews, follows directions, and maintains effective communication.
- Safety & Licensing: Valid driver's license required; OSHA safety training or LSIT certification is a plus.
