White Sands, a HumanGood life plan community (CCRC) in beautiful La Jolla, CA, is seeking an on-call Activity Assistant to join our team. As the largest nonprofit owner/operator of senior living communities in California and one of the largest in the country, we are more than just a place to work. Shift: On Call - must have weekend availability
Pay Range: $20-$21/hr.
Job Duties:
- Leads planned activity programs and assists in achieving resident engagement that fulfills wellness dimensions of sensory, social, emotional, physical enrichment and spiritual sustenance.
- Orchestrates and leads therapeutic activities of interest with enthusiasm and compassion.
- Visits resident rooms to develop genuine relationships and identify resident preferences.
- Interacts with residents and their families to give direction and inspire excitement for activity programs.
- Motivates residents to participate in daily planned activities.
- Utilizes available resources to introduce creative programs that stimulate sensory and cognitive processes.
- Assists in organizing resident group trips and outings.
Requirements:
- One-year experience in recreational activities preferred.
- Vocational/technical training that includes care of elderly with dementia desired; equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
- CPR certification required.
