Overview
Assists in the planning and supervision of the clinical and didactical aspects of the Surgical Technology Program. Assists in developing, implementing and evaluating course materials and schools policies. Monitors the Surgical Technology Program for satisfaction, outcomes, and continuous quality improvement. Assesses the educational needs and assures competency standards are met for the Surgical Technology Program. Coordinates the activities of the school, within the hospital environment, involving collaboration with operational areas for student rotations, as well as with the Program Director, OR Managers, OR Educator, and/or OR Clinical Coordinators.
Qualifications
Education required: Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program, or graduate of an Associate’s Degree Surgical Technologist School required
Education preferred: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
License, Certification and/or Registration: Current CST certification preferred. Current Alabama or multistate Nursing license preferred
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist and current experience in the OR in scrubbing. Must be experienced in teaching adults in a healthcare field. Must have experience in leading teams, and preferable in managing staff.
Additional Skills/Abilities:
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and highly organized.
- Must have excellent coaching skills. Must be capable of developing educational learning materials for classroom, simulation lab, e-learning and blending learning modes, and in writing course and curriculum materials.
- Must be adept in utilizing Internet-based content.
- Must be experienced and capable of collaborating with all disciplines and work with all levels of learners to provide a successful experience in educating the adult learner
