Overview
Under the direction of the Executive Director Professional Service Revenue Cycle, the Patient Accounting Director is responsible for the coordination and supervision of all hospital billing and collections of patient accounts. Responsibilities include achievement of annual and periodic goals for revenue cycle performance and the organization’s overall insurance collections. The Patient Accounting Director will integrate department goals with the hospital’s mission, objectives and strategic planning. The Patient Accounting Director is responsible for ensuring the team delivers the highest degree of quality services.
Responsibilities
The Director of Patient Accounting will be responsible for daily operations and oversight of department managers and staff performing the following:
- Insurance Billing
- Insurance Follow up
- Payment and contractual posting
- Denials and Appeals management
- Regulatory and payer compliance of collection standards
- Positive communications and outcomes with internal customers and support services
- Effective utilization of outsourced and internal resources
- Staff development
- Updated and applied accurate policy and procedures
- Active quality assurance and process improvement
- Outsourced operational management including collections, secondary insurance collections, and liability collections.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree or comparable combinations of education and/or experience will be considered. Maintained continuing education in the areas of revenue cycle management and improvement.
Experience: 3 to 5 years working experience as manager of healthcare financial operations. (i.e. hospital based billing, insurance collections, or payer relations)
Additional skills/Abilities: Day to day applications and proficiency in EXCEL and WORD. Experience in utilizing interoffice emails, report management, and database report writer (i.e. Crystal reports, Medefinance, EPSI, or Access). Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. Demonstrated organizational skills including ability to work in a fast paced environment.
