Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated CSSP/Job Skills Trainer to support transitioning-age youth (14–22) with physical or mental disabilities in achieving vocational success. This role involves working with individuals with autism, blindness, hearing impairments, traumatic brain injuries, or serious emotional disturbances. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in human services, coupled with a commitment to empowering youth to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities:
- Provide job skills training and support to youth with disabilities to help them transition into vocational settings.
- Develop and implement individualized vocational training plans in collaboration with the program team.
- Mentor participants to improve job readiness, including communication, workplace behavior, and skill development.
- Partner with employers and community resources to create inclusive opportunities.
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports on participant performance.
- Facilitate workshops or group sessions focused on career readiness and skill-building.
Requirements:
Candidates must meet one of the following:
Option A:
- At least two (2) years of experience working with transitioning-age youth (14–22) with physical or mental disabilities (e.g., autism, blindness, hearing impairments, traumatic brain injury, or serious emotional disturbances).
- At least 15 college credits in psychology, social work, vocational rehabilitation, special education, or a related human services field.
Option B:
- At least 60 college credits of applicable coursework in psychology, social work, vocational rehabilitation, special education, or a related human services field.
Exceptions:
- Individuals without the specified educational requirements may be considered if their total work experience clearly demonstrates expertise in working with individuals with disabilities, particularly transitioning-age youth.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with vocational rehabilitation or special education programming.
- Familiarity with assistive technology or accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
