Job Description
East Hawaii Health Clinics is seeking a Director of Nursing position to provide oversight for two Hilo-based primary care clinics. The director will be responsible for planning organizing and directing the general nursing care, treatment services and the resulting outcomes of the East Hawaii Health Clinics. This position is also responsible for planning and/or implementing nursing programs and providing consultative and advisory services in methods of preparing and maintaining standards of nursing care for East Hawaii Health Clinics.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Aligns nursing services staff and colleagues within other departments with the facility’s nursing practices and the mission, values and vision of the East Hawaii Region
- Works with clinic management to develop and implement strategic plans, ensuring outstanding patient satisfaction
- Encourages evidence-based practices and nursing research, including implementation of improved methods of patient care
- Participates in clinic planning, decision making, budgeting and policy formulation
- Establishes and maintains clinical and administrative records and reports, as required
- Fosters and promotes a patient-centered, culturally competent, customer service focused atmosphere on behalf of the department and/or organization
- Supervises all clinical personnel, including Registered Professional Nurses, Registered Nurse Clinical Coordinators/Educators and Registered Nurse Managers
- Participates in and actively promotes the East Hawaii Region’s organizational effectiveness and excellence by fostering individual and team development through the Go Malama Management Model
- Contributes to hospital committees and serves as a consultant to other departments, as requested
- Takes a lead role in emergency management preparations
- Coordinates and participates in hospital projects, public relations initiatives and community educational health programs
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (Master’s degree preferred), as demonstrated by the possession of a license to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii. Evidence of continuing education should be demonstrated, including coursework in nursing administration.
Experience: Five (5) or more years of nursing experience with sufficient previous nursing administration experience in a hospital or clinic environment. A minimum of three (3) years of experience must be in a leadership position.
Certification: Professional Certifications highly preferred.
Licensure: Possession of a license to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements
