Pharmacist I Position
The primary purpose of this role is to ensure an adequate supply of drugs and pharmaceuticals for treating various conditions, provide accurate information about medications to healthcare professionals and patients, dispense medications to patients, and consult with medical staff to optimize treatment regimens.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare intravenous admixtures using aseptic technique and the laminar air flow hood, taking into account drug-drug, drug-container, and drug-temperature incompatibilities.
- Compound and dispense drugs, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals to nursing units, rural hospitals, outpatients, and home health patients.
- Dispense controlled substances according to Federal and State regulations, maintain accurate records of controlled substances, including inventories.
- Fill and label medications properly for night cabinets at nursing stations and the Emergency Department.
- Review orders for potential drug-drug, drug-lab test, drug-food interactions, and appropriateness of dosage forms, strengths, intervals, and durations.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate or Pharm.D degree in pharmacy.
- Full-time work experience as a licensed pharmacist, with 6 months of experience required for the Pharmacist I position.
- A valid license with the State of Hawaii as a pharmacist at the time of appointment.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within six months of employment.
Working Conditions:
This position requires availability to work shifts, weekends, and holidays based on hospital operations. Services are provided 24/7.
