Job Description
Job Summary:
This program is to provide entry-level opportunities for new graduate nurses who are scheduled to sit for their NCLEX RN Exam and obtain licensure. This training is directly affiliated with Hilo Benioff Medical Center’s Nurse Residency Program’s vision and will give the graduate nurse additional experience and exposure, thus increasing the confidence and knowledge base to successfully graduate from the Nurse Residency Program.
This position is under the direct supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse. Graduate nurses will receive orientation and guidance on nursing policies and procedures and nursing care techniques; provide nursing care, treatment services and/or health education information as directed. The goal of this training is to learn the role of a Nurse Aide and how teamwork and effective communication with registered nurses are essential to providing safe patient care.
Education Requirements:
Graduation with a Bachelor’s or Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing. Bachelor’s degree is highly desirable. Evidence of appropriate training (ex. Official transcript or diploma) should be submitted with the application to be given credit for education. A legible photocopy will be accepted. However, Hilo Benioff Medical Center reserves the right to request an official copy.
Experience: None Required
License Required:
Graduate Nurse I – Board eligible for a registered Nurse license to practice in the State of Hawaii.
Graduate Nurse II - A current State of Hawaii license to practice as a practical nurse and board eligible for a registered Nurse license to practice in the State of Hawaii.
Evidence of an LPN License is required with application. Possession of Hawaii LPN nursing license required upon hire.
Certificate:
Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) must be obtained within one (1) month of employment. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) is preferred. Please submit copy of certification with the application.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements
Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.

Shift Details
Must be available to work shifts, weekends and holidays as necessary based on hospital operations. Services are provided 24/7.
