Description
Performs duties to instruct operators in the safe and proper methods of performing their duties to produce molded part conforming to our quality and self maintenance standards. Capable of changeovers for all molding vertical and horizontal machines to operate in a safe manner while following set up instructions sheets. Ensures production machines are producing quality parts to meet production requirements. Responsible to run department in absence of Team Leader.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Instruct operators in the safe and proper operation of all presses to produce a molded part conforming to our quality requirements.
• Verifies process set-ups in accordance to instructions given on all machines.
• Perform in-process checks, tests and gaging as required by control plans and operator instructions.
• Receives instructions from team leader and work specifications and transmits them to associates.
• Follows and enforces safety rules and keeps work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Controls the molding machine operations to produce high quality parts, improving productivity and introducing new parts.
• Responsible for 1st piece validation for each job and correct material being used.
• Validates work standards are being follows by molding associates.
• Keeps department in good 4S order per cleaning schedule and 4S rule.
• Assists in training all “S”, “A”, and “B” operators.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Receives instruction from Team leader. Primary focus is on machines quality, set-ups, verification of machine set up, productivity, and schedule adherence, and performing required PM’s.
• Is actively involved in Kaizen activities to improve Molding department.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
• For vacations or absenteeism of Team Leader will fill Team Leader role.
• May be required to be used as acting “S” operator on emergency basis.
• Uses hand tools, crane, grinders, calipers and gages.
• May use power industrial trucks, and hand pallet jack.
• Occasionally interacts with suppliers on potential quality problems.
Needs to be aware of departmental activities to fulfill role of Team Leader in absence.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED TRAINING, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE:
• 3 years minimum previous molding experience.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Factory environment with noise from manufacturing equipment. Exposure to dangerous equipment.
• Possible serious injury due to carelessness around equipment.
• Sometimes lifts, carries or moves objects up to 50 pounds.
• If molding is required to work excessive weekends, associate will be required to rotate weekends with Team leader.
