Description
Perform duties to build, repair and maintain tooling so that it performs to the required safety, quality and production standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Lays out, fits and assembles parts to make and repair cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gages or hand tools.
• Decides on machining to be done and plans layout and assembly procedures.
• Sets up and runs machines required to perform the work.
• Complete and process required forms.
• Performs recommended preventative maintenance on all machines in their area.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
• Must use all tool room equipment: lathe, mill, surface grinder, drill press, etc., shop math, blue prints.
• Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED TRAINING, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE:
• Read blue prints and work orders.
• Correctly use required measuring equipment such as a caliper. Micrometer, torque gage, etc.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Lift dies with assistance of an overhead crane.
• Factory environment with noise from manufacturing environment. Exposure to moving equipment parts, electrical shock, and also exposed to possible burns from hot die castings.
• Possible serious injury due to carelessness around equipment (Lathe, Mill, Surface Grinder, Drill Press, etc.)
• Occasionally lift, carry, or move objects weighing more than 50 pounds.
• Regularly lift, carry or move objects weighing more than 25 pounds.
