CNC Setup / Operator Job Title
We are seeking a skilled CNC Setup/Operator to join our manufacturing team.
This position involves setting up and operating CNC machines (mills, lathes, or multi-axis machines) to produce high-quality precision parts according to engineering specifications.
The ideal candidate will have experience with machine setup, tooling selection, blueprint reading, and quality control to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
Machines Used:
- CNC mills
- CNC lathes
- Multi-axis machines
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Setup & Operation: Set up and operate CNC machines according to work instructions.
- Install and adjust tooling, fixtures, and workpieces for production runs.
- Load raw materials and oversee machining operations to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Quality Control & Inspection: Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
- Perform first article and in-process inspections, making necessary adjustments to maintain tolerances.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues related to machine performance, tooling, and material defects.
- Process Improvement & Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, programmers, and quality control personnel to improve machining processes.
- Maintain accurate records of production, machine adjustments, and quality control checks.
Requirements:
- Experience setting up and operating CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis machines.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical documents.
- Understanding of CNC machine programming fundamentals (G-code, M-code).
- Experience with Haas or Mazak controls.
- Background in ISO 9001, AS9100, or aerospace/automotive manufacturing.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement strategies.
Work Environment:
- Full-time role in a manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to machining equipment, metalworking fluids, and noise.
- Standing for extended periods and handling materials up to 50 lbs.
