INSPECTOR
ON-SITE - 2nd Shift
Department: Inspection
Reports To: Quality Assurance Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
SUMMARY
The Inspector III position is responsible for inspecting products for conformance to specifications and dimensions on Hi Tech Honeycomb Traveler forms. To perform the job successfully, an individual must be familiar with GD&T.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager, the duties of this position include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Understand, follow and execute Hi Tech Honeycomb’s Quality Policy, System Procedures and operations Manuals.
- Identify quality problems and recommend solutions.
- Use inspection planning tools and perform product audits.
- Assist QE by performing dimensional/visual inspection of returned parts and gathering of all documents required to complete a C & CA procedure.
- Participate in out-of-specification and failure investigations and recommend corrective actions.
- Ability to pass customer required DQR classes.
- Demonstrate knowledge of statistical terms and techniques (SPC); ability to plot data and recognize out-of-control conditions.
- Demonstrate knowledge of ASME Y14.5M, GD&T blue print reading, and X, Y, Z coordinate system (CMM).
- Complete all FAIR customer specific requirements including AS9102, S1002 and DV1.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be able to use inspection planning tools and perform a product audit; determine sample size for lots; pull random samples.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Must have prior, related experience in a metal production/manufacturing company with a solid understanding of quality tools and measures as prescribed in the minimum expectations prescribed in subordinate positions related to this one. Must be fully qualified and an Inspector II.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Basic math skills required. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common factions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Basic English comprehension is required. Ability to read, analyze, and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, or regulatory agencies, and other employees of the organization is required.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; ability to identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; Develop alternative solutions; Work well with group problem solving situations; Use reason even when dealing with emotional topics is required.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient understanding of Microsoft Office products; strong computer skills. Knowledge of Laser fiche Management System is highly desired. Ability to performing basic Excel tasks such as creating charts to report trends for SPC, rework & scrap data is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Quality Assurance certificates, related memberships are a plus, but not required.
