SUMMARY
The Laser Welding Operator 1 operates a Nd;YAG Class 4 welding device that is used in the creation the honeycomb material manufactured at Hi Tech Honeycomb. The successful operation of this machine requires the operator to have superior attention to detail skills, excellent eye-hand coordination, and problem solving skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Under the direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor, the duties of this position include the following. Other duties may be assigned as need To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. All positions are required to comply with safety protocols to complete daily tasks at all times.
• Understand and follow Hi Tech Honeycomb’s Quality Policy, System Procedures and Operations Manuals.
• Understands basic machine functions (i.e. power, free air, gear control)
• Inspect pinwheels, lens covers and settings when needed for 1/32, 1/16 and 1/8.
• Ability to start a loop without supervision.
• Replace finished coils and start loop by splicing into area were material ends.
• Ability to report machine problems immediately to lead operator or supervisor.
• Review traveler forms for prior operations not completed; if not completed, reporting problem to supervisor.
• Ability to verify material type, heat number, material thickness and width off every coil to traveler requirements.
• Complete ICR (Inspection Conformance Record) operation for every loop in a timely manner.
• Ability to buy off a loop after completed to dimensional requirement.
• Ability to recognize quantity of parts needed and quantity of parts being manufactured.
• Ability to measure every part at the beginning, during and completion of every loop for height, width, loop length, weld location, flatness and out of square.
• Proficiently inspect cell damage, splits (weak welds), cell marking, cell walking and burn holes for visual requirements.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Manufacturing experience is desired, but not required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Basic math; ability to measure with a caliper, measure angle with protractor and use inspection gages is required.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions; ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Visual Acuity of the Operator may be tested at the discretion Operations Manager. The visual acuity testing may be performed by the Quality Department at HTH.
