SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Engineer Tech I supports the engineering department in implementing design, developing tools and preparing layouts to ensure effective manufacturing processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under direction of the Engineering Manager the duties of this position include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Understand and follow Hi Tech Honeycomb’s Quality Policy, System Procedures and Operations Manuals.
- Interpret customer supplied documents such as engineering sketches, specifications, drawings and purchase orders.
- Prepare layouts, drawings or sketches for new or existing products, new tooling and fixtures.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in quality, cost, or efficiency of automation equipment.
- Monitor and control inventory.
- Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing.
- Ensure adherence to safety rules and practices.
- Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances or processing methods.
- Review production designs for manufacturability and/or completeness.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Four year college or university degree preferred; at least one year of continuous professional experience in manufacturing/aerospace engineering field; or equivalent combination of education and hands on experience equivalent to two to three years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics and their regular applications is required. Ability to apply advanced mathematical knowledge to mechanical engineering practices on a regular basis.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations; Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public is required.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the knowledge of ERP/MRP database or ability to learn this or similar software; SolidWorks design software is preferred or computer-aided design software such as Pro Engineer, CAD CAM, Unigraphics and/or BOBCAD; MS software to support engineering processes (Excel, Word and Outlook) is required.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables is required.
