6:00 AM - 2:30 PM M-F

REPORT TO: Production Supervisor
FLSA: Non-exempt
SUMMARY
The Hand Weld- Segment Operator is responsible for working with Honeycomb segments that require weld node reinforcement.
Hand welders engage in repetitive hand movements that require pressure to active the welding device. Visual acuity and attention to detail to perform hand welding. In addition, all operators are required to comply with all safety protocols to complete daily tasks at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under direction of the Production Supervisor the duties of this position include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
The following duties and responsibilities apply to Hand Weld for both Ring and Segments:
- Understand and follow Hi Tech Honeycomb’s Quality Policy, System Procedures and Operations Manuals.
- Understand and follow safety procedures such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Understand and follow procedures outlined in the General Shop instructions and Hand Weld Procedure found in the Operating Manual (O.M.)
- Ability to read the Traveler and the sketch for instructions.
- Check to ensure job ID & customer ID on Traveler should match the parts status tag
- Check to ensure Customer ID, part ID/rev, Part #/Rev and Customer drawing #/rev match the drawing/sketch
- Set the proper setting on welding generator and perform 2 tow Pull Test strip on proper material
- Enter 2 row Pull Test results into the Log book
Segment Weld
- Check honeycomb segments for non-conformance
- Perform resistance hand weld technique or repair method to honeycomb segments
- Repair damaged honeycomb cell wall(s) using various hand tools for minor cell marking
- Perform hand sanding for out of flat condition
- Repair splits and open nodes
- Notify Mentor/Lead/Supervisor if any issues/concerns arise.
- Support Clean Room
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Manufacturing experience is desired.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Basic math skills required; ability to measure with a caliper, measure angle with protractor and use inspection gauges is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Basic English comprehension, reading and writing is required.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
This individual must be able to read standard Traveler form and supplemental documents to perform regular duties as required of this and sequential duties and positions. Ability to utilize specialized tools to measure and confirm tolerances is required. Good visual acuity, attention to detail are required
