Job Overview:

We are hiring talented junior/mid associate to join a financial restructuring team in Chicago. We are looking for team players with strong communication and research skills. You will join a nationwide team that works on both debtor and creditor representations in complex situations. Our practice includes presenting and litigating in court and the negotiation of plans of reorganization and out-of-court recapitalization transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise clients on corporate restructuring, bankruptcy proceedings, and financial distress situations.
• Assist in Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases, out-of-court restructurings, and distressed asset transactions.
• Draft and review legal documents, including restructuring plans, motions, and creditor agreements.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, negotiations, and creditor meetings.
• Conduct legal research on bankruptcy law, UCC, and relevant financial regulations.
• Collaborate with internal teams across corporate, finance, and litigation practice areas to develop comprehensive legal strategies.
• Provide strategic counsel to clients regarding risk assessment, restructuring options, and financial recovery strategies.
• Stay up to date with developments in bankruptcy law, financial restructuring trends, and regulatory changes.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in the State of New York.
• 2 years of experience in corporate restructuring, bankruptcy, or related financial legal practice.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. Bankruptcy Code, Chapter 11 restructuring, and secured transactions.
• Experience representing debtors, creditors, and financial institutions in insolvency matters.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
