Description
The Senior Accountant I will play a crucial role in HIAS PA’s daily financial operations. Responsibilities will include daily participation and management of agency accounting functions, and collaboration with the Director of Finance and other agency departments for continuous process improvements. An essential function of this role is to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and support the agency-wide development of efficient financial processes. The Sr. Accountant will work closely with program managers to provide insightful budgetary and financial results analysis and support the HIAS PA management team.
The ideal candidate for this role will be detail-oriented, with exceptional organizational and time management skills. The Sr. Accountant will have the ability to build strong departmental relationships at various levels of the agency and work collaboratively with other members of the fiscal team, including providing support for HIAS PA’s management team
Core Responsibilities:
- Responsible for day-to-day accounts receivable, cash receipts, general ledger data entries, budgeting, claiming reports (invoicing), revenue and expenditure variance analysis, reconciliations, journal entries, check runs, verifying credit card receipts, and reconciliation of Amex credit card.
- Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations as directed by the Finance Director.
- Maintaining and developing fixed asset analysis and related depreciation schedules.
- Preparing journal entries, analysis, and monthly account reconciliations, assisting with monthly closing processes, and working to resolve any discrepancies—budget to actual reports by program and funding sources.
- Supporting team members during absences and/or heavy volume times.
- Ability to work irregular or extended work when necessary to meet all reporting deadlines.
- This is a hands-on position, which will require ongoing training and mentoring to develop skills.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Management experience, minimum 3 years, and aptitude to directly manage and support the team.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and financial reporting standards (GAAP/IFRS)
- Hands-on experience, completing month-end/year-end closings, reconciliations, and reporting independently.
- Significant analytical skillsets, including advanced Excel skills.
- Strong influencing and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in using accounting software and ERP systems, including Fund EZ proprietary accounting software or similar software.
- Proficiency in foreign languages is desired but not required.
- Comfortable working in a diverse workplace with a diverse client base.
Other Information:
HIAS Pennsylvania is currently working on a hybrid work model. HIAS Pennsylvania requires all staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with the exception of those who have approved medical or religious belief exemptions.
Salary : $85,000 - $90,000
