SUMMARYThe Assistant, Buying assists buyers in the daily activities of the merchandising department. Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices. Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future merchandise availability and prepare market analysis reports. Creates new styles and writes purchase orders for buyers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESManage on order products in merchandising technology systems, adjusting ship windows, tracking cancel dates, confirming costs/retail, cancel orders per buyer’s request. Track orders, contact vendors, enter markups and markdowns, and perform other purchase order maintenance. Create new styles for purchase orders.
Prepare and issue purchase order and change notices. Write and prepare purchase orders.
Assist buyers, marketing business partners, and vendors on cost and creation of new advertising possibilities for the year.
Track all launch products and communicate across merchandise department, marketing, operations, warehouse, and ecommerce. Communicate any date changes.
Participate in weekly ecommerce launch calls.
Coordinate between the marketing and buying team assisting with season photo shoots and other deliverables.
Point of contact for district and regional managers to solve any issues with merchandise POS issues in stores.
Send weekly selling reports to vendors.
Manage all store communication, including situational emails, launch date changes/delays, AES, and new brand information.
Review order confirmation booking reports to ensure it matches in retail systems.
Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESNo supervisory responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS1 year of experience working in merchandising.
Experience working for a retail company preferred.
Strong communication and attention to detail skills.
