The Electrical Contractor Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing electrical construction projects within federal agencies, ensuring compliance with government regulations, contract requirements, and safety standards. This role requires excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills to successfully execute projects on time and within budget. The PM position is non-union with a Union Electrical Company but will be managing union employees.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution:
o Manage all phases of electrical construction projects, from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring adherence to project scope, budget, and schedule.
o Develop project schedules, work plans, and procurement strategies in coordination with stakeholders.
o Oversee subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel to ensure high-quality work and compliance with federal regulations.
Contract & Compliance Management:
o Interpret and ensure compliance with federal construction contracts, including FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations), DFARS, and other government requirements.
o Maintain accurate documentation and reporting per government guidelines, ensuring project deliverables meet contract specifications.
o Coordinate with contracting officers, government agencies, and compliance officers to address contract modifications, change orders, and reporting requirements.
Financial & Budget Oversight:
o Monitor project budgets, cost control measures, and financial forecasting.
o Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and compliance.
o Prepare and submit progress invoices, change orders, and financial reports.
Safety & Quality Assurance:
o Enforce strict adherence to OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and other safety protocols on federal job sites.
o Conduct safety audits, toolbox talks, and ensure all personnel comply with federal safety requirements.
o Implement quality control measures to meet federal construction standards and project specifications.
Stakeholder Coordination:
o Act as the primary point of contact between company leadership, federal agencies, clients, and subcontractors.
o Facilitate regular progress meetings, providing updates on project milestones and addressing concerns.
o Foster strong relationships with government agencies and industry partners to support long-term business growth.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
o Minimum 5-10 years of experience in electrical construction project management, preferably in federal contracting.
o In-depth knowledge of federal acquisition processes, contracting regulations, and government compliance standards.
o Proven experience managing electrical construction projects on military bases, government buildings, or federal infrastructure projects.
o Strong understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and other applicable safety and quality standards.
o Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, electrical schematics, and specifications.
o Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project, Project HG) and financial tracking tools.
o Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Preferred:
o Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
o PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or other relevant industry certifications.
o Active security clearance or ability to obtain one for federal project work.
Work Environment & Conditions:
· Requires on-site presence at federal construction sites with occasional travel to project locations.
· Must be able to pass background checks and security clearances as required for federal contracts.
