Position Overview
The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing the activities of licensed and non-licensed personnel who provide healthcare and nursing services to clients within Hickory Recovery Network.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the DON ensures the Nursing Service Department operates effectively, maintaining the highest degree of quality client care in accordance with State and Federal Regulations, facility policies and procedures, and client directives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct TB testing for clients and employees, including placing PPD, reading results, and maintaining documentation.
- Schedule COVID testing, vaccinations, and maintain related documentation for clients and staff.
- Manage Red Cap reporting for COVID testing within the facility.
- Assist with medical records requests by confirming ROI, sending requests to in-house counsel, and maintaining a request log.
- Manage medical supplies and stock medications monthly via McKesson and other approved vendors.
- Maintain and adjust the nursing schedule to ensure adequate coverage.
- Assist and facilitate clients’ appointments with medical providers as requested.
- Lead infection control efforts, including antibiotic tracking, flu vaccine administration, handwashing audits, and monitoring client isolation/quarantine.
- Provide nursing shift coverage as needed due to staff call-ins, vacations, or emergencies.
- Oversee an on-call schedule shared with the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), as directed by facility needs.
- Ensure holiday and weekend coverage as needed.
- Perform lab orders, drawing, and receiving labs as ordered by licensed providers. Report critical labs to providers and enter required documentation into the e-chart.
- Conduct daily chart audits for assessments, medication administration, V/S documentation, and client education.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school for professional nurses and licensed in good standing in the state where work will be performed.
- Valid RN license.
- At least 2 years of prior RN experience, preferably with hospital and behavioral health experience.
- At least one year of supervisory experience in the nursing field.
- Certified BLS provider.
- Satisfactory OIG exclusions and background check.
- Satisfactory personal and professional references.
Compensation
- $80,000 - $90,000 per year
