Position Overview
The Floor Nurse (LPN/RN) is responsible for delivering essential nursing care to clients experiencing substance use and behavioral health disorders. This PRN role supports facility operations by completing medical assessments, monitoring client status, and implementing care plans to ensure safe and effective treatment.
Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Floor Nurse plays a key role in the intake process and ongoing care, helping guide clients through their recovery with professionalism and compassion.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct nursing assessments and create care plans based on physician orders
• Perform CIWA and COWS evaluations to monitor detox symptoms
• Administer medications, including high-risk medications, using two identifiers
• Perform TB testing, urinalysis, pregnancy tests, glucose checks, and COVID-19 testing
• Monitor client progress and document changes in health status
• Manage medication storage and documentation
• Maintain emergency drug kits and conduct narcotics counts
• Educate clients on health, medications, and treatments
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and facility policies
• Identify and report safety hazards, near misses, or medication errors
• Maintain hand hygiene and proper use of PPE throughout each shift
• Participate in ongoing performance improvement activities
Qualifications
• Valid LPN or RN license from an accredited nursing program
• Previous experience in hospital or behavioral health settings preferred
• BLS certification (required within one month of hire)
• Knowledge of detox and behavioral medicine best practices
• Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills
• Proficient in EMR systems and basic computer use
• Demonstrated ability to maintain client confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Reliable, flexible, and able to work independently or as part of a team
Compensation
• $29-33 per hour
(Compensation based on experience and shift responsibilities)
