Department: Behavioral Health
Direct Report: Behavioral Health Manager
About the Role:
- The Med Tech is an integral member of the treatment team, functioning as the primary conduit between clients, clinical, and medical staff, working to ensure the implementation and integration of the person-centered treatment plan.
- The Med Tech is also responsible for the medication passing of female and/or male clients suffering from addictions and behavioral health issues.
Scope:
- Under the immediate supervision of the Behavioral Health Technician Manager, the Med Tech is responsible for monitoring, observing, and reporting client activities while providing structure and support of the clinical person-centered treatment plan. The Med Tech is also responsible for management, administration, and education of all client medication.

Job Qualifications:
- QMA completed from an accredited school of Nursing.
- At least 2 years prior experience as a Medication Aide preferably with hospital and behavioral health experience
- Ability to maintain strict client confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- Professional appearance, aptitude, and attitude
- Impeccable ethics, integrity, and customer relations skills
- Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills
- Knowledge of “best practices” behavioral medicine treatment delivery and methodologies
- Sound clinical judgment and decision-making skills
- Schedule flexibility, holiday, and weekend rotation is REQUIRED.
- Must hold a valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understands administration of high-risk medications
- Documents medication administration
- Uses two identifiers when administering medications
- Reports safety hazards to supervisor and or Executive Director
- Reports medication errors or "near misses" to supervisor
- Ensures clients attend groups and participate in treatment program
- Monitors and assists client activities throughout the shift; group time, free time, meals
- Monitors compliance with treatment center rules
- Documents shift notes, safety rounds, and crisis notes in electronic medical record
- Documents client non-compliance
