Peer Support Specialist – Hickory Treatment Centers at Terre Haute

About the Role:
- Under the immediate supervision of the Clinical Manager, the Peer Support Specialist is responsible for each component of the client’s treatment planning, client’s behavioral health plan, including all programmatic implementation. The Peer Support Specialist will provide group and family therapies.
- Peer Support Specialists will also coordinate aftercare plans such as MAT service appointments, mental health continuums, primary physician appointments, relapse prevention support within the community including NA/AA meetings and identify transportation for clients at time of discharge. The Peer Support Specialists will meet with their assigned case load individually every 7 days to adhere to documentation requirements through Medicaid standards. Peer Support Specialists will also lead peer group programming and participate in multi-disciplinary treatment.

Job Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelor level degree in Psychology, social work, or related field preferred
- Certification Required: CADAC II, CADAC IV, CADAC V, & or Peer Recovery
- Two years prior experience in a behavioral healthcare setting, with residential treatment experience preferred
- Group facilitation experience preferred.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills
- Positive demeanor and clear understanding of professional boundaries with clients
- Sound clinical judgment and decision-making skills
- Dependability, punctuality, accuracy, attention to detail, & thoroughness are all essential to this role.
- Computer literacy and ability to use an EMR
- Completion of CPR and CPI before first shift on the floor
- Schedule flexibility, holiday, and weekend rotation is REQUIRED.
- Must hold a valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participates in performance improvement activities
- Collaborates with primary therapist on clients treatment goals and discharge planning
- Contacts assigned client within 24-hours of admission and daily thereafter
- Completes Behavioral Health Plan, My SNAP, and BAM within 24-hours of admission
- Documents Case Management Note and updates Behavioral Health Plan and BAM in the EMR every seven days for assigned clients
- Assists assigned clients with coping skills, triggers, and a relapse prevention plan
- Completes non-therapeutic group sessions
- Monitors and tracks group attendance and participation; Reports any group needs/concerns to supervisor.
- Documents group notes in the EMR timely and sufficiently
- Administers the client Daily Self Assessment and documents in the EMR daily
- Monitors clients contacts and telephone calls
- Assists assigned clients with court appointments, communication with probation and/or legal representative, personal business, benefits assistance, etc.
- Assists assigned clients with safe and supportive discharge planning including housing, employment, 30-day after care plan, and documents in EMR
- Adheres to HIPPA policies including release of information
- Participates in monthly staff trainings
- For clients discharging AMA, case manager completes BAM, Suicide Risk Assessment, AMA Questionnaire and Refusal of Treatment AMA form when directed
- Reports safety hazards to supervisor or Executive Director
- Performs appropriate hand hygiene throughout the shift
- Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately
